When is Eid al Adha?

Eid al-Adha, which means " Feast of the Sacrifice", is one of the two blessed Eids that we celebrate as Muslims. It commemorates the story of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who was asked by Allah to sacrifice his only son, Ishmael. Even though it was a test from Allah, Ibrahim passed with flying colors and showed his complete submission to Allah's will.

As a result, Allah blessed him and his family and allowed them to live in peace.

Eid al-Adha is celebrated every year on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, which is the 12th and final month of the Islamic calendar. It is a joyous occasion where Muslims come together to pray

When is Eid al Adha 2022?

Eid ul Adha 2022 or Bakra Eid 2022 is expected to be celebrated on Sunday, 1oth of July 2022. This is the tentative date as the actual date is contingent on the sighting of the moon of Dhul Hijjah, 1443, the 12th and last month of the Islamic Calendar.

Translating literally, Eid al-Adha means "the feast of the sacrifice". It is a time when Muslims around the world remember Ibrahim's faithfulness and offer their own sacrifices in obedience to Allah. We also take this opportunity to think about our own lives and how we can please Allah through our actions.

During Eid al-Adha, Muslims all over the world will dress in their finest clothes, perform special prayers and give thanks to Allah for His blessings. One of the main features of this holiday is the slaughtering of an animal, usually a sheep or a goat, and distributing its meat to those in need. This act is known as Qurbani and is seen as a way of providing for those less fortunate than ourselves.

Eid al-Adha is also a time for families and friends to get together and celebrate. It is customary to exchange gifts, often in the form of money, and to enjoy special meals and treats.

Eid Prayer

The scholars differed concerning the ruling on Eid prayers. However, all Muslims should attend the prayers of both Eids as most scholars, on the basis of strong evidence, is of opinion that it is Wajib (obligation). Apart from prayer, the Eid sermon (after Eid Prayer) has also been made an integral part of this gathering and the prayer.

Happy and blessed Eid!

Eid al-Adha is a special time for Muslims all over the world. It is a time to remember Allah's blessings and to help those less fortunate than ourselves. We hope that you have a happy and blessed Eid!
